Trapezoidal Wings

Trapezoidal Wings (also called Tapered Wings) are an aircraft wing geometry with a trapezoidal shape. The chord legth decreases towards the tip. They can be swept or unswept.

The main advantages of trapezoidal wings are:

  • Lower induced drag due to a smaller chord at the tip
  • Lower drag at higher speeds
  • Saving weight
  • Less structural stress
